Trailblazer Child and Youth Program Coordinator



Position Announcement

The Trailblazer Child and Youth Program Coordinator collaborates with the TCYP team in the recruitment, enrollment, and placement of interns. The Trailblazer Child and Youth Program (TCYP) provides semester long (12 weeks) internship opportunities during the fall, spring, and summer. Interns serve in the U.S. Navy’s Child Development Centers and School Age Care and Teen Programs. Internship locations include various locations throughout the U.S. to include California, Washington, Hawaii, and many more. Opportunities for international travel may also be available. Interns are engaged in experience working with children and youth, while networking with the world’s largest employer, the Department of Defense. Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the TCYP Director and Marketing and Development Officer in the administration of all contracted U.S. Navy Child and Youth Programs. Including, but not limited to assistance in the recruitment, selection, training, placement, and evaluation of interns.
  • Develop and implement a holistic recruitment strategy for prospective interns nationwide.
  • Build relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, alumni, and other constituents in support of the TCYP goals.
  • Organize and manage the TCYP application process, including but not limited to:
    • Supporting prospective students as they move through the recruitment process through all communication channels, answering questions about the admissions process, alleviating concerns, assisting with application submission, and following through to enrollment.
    • Answering phones and direct interns and potential interns in the application process.
  • Provide customer service to interns and prospective interns through email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Assist with record and budget management.
  • Utilize database systems for reporting purposes to support recruitment, admissions, and enrollment of interns.
  • Prepare and track purchase requisitions, travel authorizations, meeting minutes, and other university forms and processes as needed.
  • Assist in the management and completion of paperwork for the implementation of the TCYP.
  • Train on-the-job to become a website editor for https://trailblazercyp.utahtech.edu .
  • Assist in risk management efforts and communications.
  • Work with diverse individuals and teams, while collaborating with military contract partners, university partners.
  • Attend weekly, quarterly and bi-annual TCYP team and training meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communication, education, recreation and sport management, or another related field required.
  • Two years’ full-time office and/or program coordination experience required; experience working in higher education environment preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, faculty, students, and community members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Knowledge of professional office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook); knowledge of computer systems unique to higher education (Banner, Canvas, Argos, etc.) preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Good working knowledge of financial record keeping procedures.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time classified staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $40,000 - $44,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of January 2023.
