Trailblazer Child and Youth Program Marketing and Development Officer



Position Announcement

The Trailblazer Child and Youth Program (TCYP) Marketing and Development Officer will be a key contributor in the recruitment, marketing, and development of the Trailblazer Child and Youth Program. TCYP provides semester long (12 weeks) internship opportunities during the fall, spring, and summer. Interns serve in the U.S. Navy’s Child Development Centers and School Age Care and Teen Programs. Internship locations include various locations throughout the U.S. to include California, Washington, Hawaii, and many more; opportunities for international travel may also be available. Interns are engaged in experience working with children and youth, while networking with the world’s largest employer, the Department of Defense. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the TCYP Director and Program Coordinator in the administration of all contracted U.S. Navy Child and Youth Programs.
  • Provide leadership in the organization and implementation of recruitment, selection, and placement of interns.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of interns as assigned.
  • Provide customer services to interns and prospective interns through email, phone, and in person interactions.
  • Create content for and manage social media accounts.
  • Train on the job to become a website editor for trailblazercyp.utahtech.edu .
  • Utilize database systems for reporting purposes to support recruitment, admissions, and enrollment of interns.
  • Manage complex databases, including knowledge of developing, delivering, and maintaining queries and reports to support recruitment, admissions, and enrollment of interns in contracted programs.
  • Management and completion of paperwork for the implementation of the TCYP.
  • Collaborate with TCYP Director on management of the budget, staffing reports, and program goals.
  • Assist in risk management efforts and communications.
  • Work with diverse individuals and teams, while collaborating with military contract partners and university departments.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and quarterly and bi-annual training meetings.
  • Assist TCYP director in creating partnerships with other departments on Utah Tech Campus and other Universities inside and outside of Utah.
  • If the TCYP Director is unavailable, the TCYP Marketing and Development Officer will serve in their place as the on-call 24-hour first responder for all program incidents and emergencies.
  • Some evening or weekend work may be necessary.
  • Travel for in person trainings/events or recruitment events may be needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business management, recreation and sport management, or another related field, plus one (1) year of experience working in a related field required. Individuals with a High School Diploma/GED, some college coursework, and at least five (5) years' experience working in marketing, business management, or recruiting position will also be considered.
  • Experience working within early childhood education, secondary education or higher education setting is preferred.
  • Excellent public relations, customer service, and writing skills.
  • Must be a resident of Utah; however, the nature of this position can allow flexibility to work from home, if preferred.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours or be on-call or as required.
  • Ability to pass federal background check.
  • Ability to manage urgent priorities with projects of various sizes and timelines.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Marketing experience and expertise.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, and Zoom.
  • Experience managing databases preferred.
  • Leadership experience in a higher education study abroad or service-learning programs preferred.
  • Experience with military child and youth programs preferred.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $50,000+ depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of January 2023.
