Professional qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and access initiatives. A master’s degree is required, and a terminal or doctoral degree is preferred.

Additional qualifications include:
·A record of leadership in higher education with an entrepreneurial, creative and sustainable approach to program development and practices that support equity and inclusion

·A record of building, supporting and empowering teams, including experience supporting the professional development and success of staff

·The ability to establish positive and collaborative relationships across students, staff, faculty and community partners

·Demonstrated skills using quantitative and qualitative data to assess programs and policies and ensuring progress towards stated goals

·A record of effectively managing existing resources, advocating for new resources and identifying external funding through grant writing, fundraising and other activities

·A history and understanding of positive organizational change and the political savvy to navigate complex environments

·Clear, effective and authentic communication and listening skills, and an ability to diplomatically facilitate challenging conversations

·An accessible, collaborative and welcoming approach to leadership

Preferred Qualifications

·Experience implementing and overseeing internal grant submissions, funding initiatives and
faculty collaborations

·Experience working on research initiatives with faculty that seek and secure grant funding, corporate partnerships, and other opportunities to leverage campus resources and further
propel diversity efforts

·Experience working with faculty/staff affinity groups to identify needs, concerns, areas for
support and long-term strategy focused on faculty staff success

·Proven track record of assisting in the recruitment, hiring, and training of diverse faculty and
staff

Job Description

The Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence will serve as an advisor and key member of the Vice-President for Inclusive Excellence ( VPIE ) staff reporting directly to the Vice President for Inclusive Excellence. The person in this position is responsible for coordinating and supervising the implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access ( DEIA ) initiatives related to faculty and staff initiatives as well as inclusion, equity and accessibility initiatives for students from diverse backgrounds. Specifically providing leadership, guidance, and supervision for the following division departmental positions: Executive Director of TRIO programs and the Director of Student Connections and Belonging. An overview of the responsibilities of this position includes overseeing, tracking, and monitoring of special projects, action items, and strategies for the Vice-President. The Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence will be responsible for relationship-building with campus stakeholders and constituent groups and serve as the Vice-President’s representative on committees and task forces as well as aid in the implementation of the division strategic planning processes, annual reporting and recommending changes to existing policies and procedures as necessary.

Job Duties

·Assist the Vice-President of Inclusive Excellence with supporting the division through the implementation of strategic initiatives including the creation of a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging throughout the campus community

·Provide leadership and support to the Executive Director of TRIO programs and Director of Student Connections and Belonging

·Partner with campus stakeholders, leadership, students and staff as well as internal and external constituents

·In partnership with the Human Resources and other campus departments, coordinate an institutional effort to increase the recruitment of diverse faculty and staff

·Serve as the liaison of the Division of Inclusive Excellence to Enrollment Management and other recruitment-related projects

·Provide support, consultation and training on DEI issues to the campus community in collaboration with other departments and campus content experts

·Benchmark DEI best practices across the state of Texas and the nation to inform polices, practices and procedures

·In consultation with the VPIE, coordinate division signature programs and initiatives

·Coordinate the collection of data and assessment as it relates to strategic planning and other DEI initiatives

·Create and maintain diversity database to inform diverse recruitment and retention strategies for student success and plans to address deficiencies

·Manage all DEI marketing and communications efforts and serve as liaison to Communications and Public Relations as well as Marketing department

·Represent the division on standing committees and meetings and stand-in as a representative of the VPIE when necessary

·Establish and maintain a working relationship with campus collaborative partners, diversity liaisons, committees, task forces and work groups

·Coordinate and reinvigorate the Bobcat Jedi program to provide DEI education for the campus community
