Job Description

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication is seeking a program coordinator to support the school’s Career and Professional Development department as well as a range of enrichment programs. The ideal candidate will be highly organized; enjoy working with students in a variety of capacities including resume and online portfolio reviews; and be able to help plan and execute a broad range of events including but not limited to recruiter events, internship interview days, online presentations and in-person classroom presentations.

Essential Duties

  • Organize and help execute at least eight internship interview days each calendar year
  • Assist with planning and execution of summer programs as well as workshops and other events
  • Host recruiters and arrange on-site interviews for students seeking internships and jobs
  • Input and track data on alumni, internships and recruiters
  • Process applications and evaluation data for internships and other programs
  • Assist students with questions about internships and other opportunities
  • Maintain Canvas course pages for students doing internships for credit
  • Generate reports as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties such as calendars, copying, scanning, sorting, organizing and shipping
  • May supervise student workers
  • Create and maintain weekly jobs listings to send out via Salesforce.
  • Coordinate and support the Cronkite School’s various mentorship programs.
  • Maintain department's area of the Cronkite School website including updating internship board, fellowship board and scholarship board; should be comfortable editing with Wordpress.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Knowledge of organizational practices.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Experience in organizing work of self and others.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills

 

Working Environment

  • The Cronkite School is located on the ASU Downtown Campus in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Required to work outside of normal hours on occasion.
