Definition of Class
The Ole Miss Student Union at the University of Mississippi is seeking applicants to fill a position for Manager of Facility and Event Services. This position will manage the daily operational functions of the 173,000 square foot Gertrude C. Ford Ole Miss Student Union. The incumbent is responsible for recruiting and managing student facilities staff, managing the space reservations process for spaces managed by the Student Union, and assists with the planning and execution of on and off-campus events. This position seeks an individual who can provide a high level of customer service, strong supervisory skills, and proactive technical support.
This position plans and executes meetings, special events, or functions for a College, School, or Program within the University. The incumbent manages the execution and implementation of assigned events and planning timelines, develops and implements policies and procedures related to event planning, manages and oversees departmental budget, and provides supervision, guidance, and direction for support staff.

The individual serving in this position will play a crucial role in managing the recently expanded and newly renovated 173,000 square foot Student Union facility.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Event Management and Services.

Examples of Work Performed
• Directs daily operational functions of The Gertrude C. Ford Ole Miss Student Union (OMSU) facility.
• Recruits, hires, and manages all OMSU student facilities staff.
• Develops and implements student employee training programs and curriculum.
• Manages the space reservations process for indoor and outdoor spaces overseen by the OMSU
• Establishes and maintains relationships with clients.
• Assists with the planning and execution of on and off-campus events.
• Coordinates with Facilities Management to direct work orders and maintenance requests for the OMSU facility
• Manages staff scheduling based on building operations.
• Manages audio/visual operations within the OMSU facility
• Contributes to special event and after-hours operations and staffing for the OMSU facility
• Assists in payroll process for student staff
• Ensures users of the facility are compliant with policies and procedures and guidelines are met.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures related to facility management.
• Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
Essential Functions

Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
AND
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement:
Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
