Assistant/Associate Professor of Elementary Mathematics/Science

Monmouth College seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant/associate level position in Elementary Mathematics/Science Education within the Department of Educational Studies beginning August 2023.  Educational Studies currently works with approximately a quarter of the Monmouth College students within its elementary and secondary licensure program.

Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate teacher preparation courses within the elementary education program. Applicants must possess comprehensive knowledge of elementary level pedagogy. Successful applicants must be committed to excellence in teaching, be adept at using instructional technology, and be willing to collaborate with the community and area schools to form productive relationships.

Tenure-track faculty teach three courses per semester, serve on faculty committees, advise undergraduate students, supervise candidates in field experience, and participate in faculty governance. Applicants should show enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teaching and for participating in the college's core curriculum, an innovative general education curriculum.  The successful applicant must demonstrate strong potential for excellent teaching, service in a liberal arts college setting, and academic scholarship.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Teacher Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or other closely related field is required; ABD near completion considered. Preference will be given to applicants who are qualified to teach in additional content areas and in the college’s core curriculum and have at least 3 years of full-time teaching experience in K-12 or equivalent classroom settings.
