This faculty position provides overall leadership for developing and implementing a comprehensive Extension teaching and applied research agenda in experiential Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) education and digital learning engagement via 4-H positive youth development within the Department of Extension in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University. 

 

 

 

Working collaboratively, faculty member will engage with a team of OSU professionals within OSU Extension as well as with cross-disciplinary department and colleges to engage in research and education in the following areas related to 4-H STEM experiential learning, including but not limited to: computer sciences, computational thinking, interactive multimedia learning, maker learning, digital 4-H learning engagement, etc. 

 

 

 

Develop curricula, lesson plans, train-the-trainer, and programming resources in these and related topic areas. Contribute to and collaborate with university and industry partners, faculty and Extension educators for education and scholarly work focused on 4-H STEM experiential and digital learning engagement. Advance the body of knowledge in these areas through peer-reviewed journal publications, presentations, and other scholarly works. Consult with clientele to address statewide issues in 4-H STEM as needed. Provide research-based and evidence-informed experiential learning strategies. Evaluate and respond to large scale statewide needs vs. individual requests. Collaborate with regional and federal 4-H STEM programming entities to address state to regional needs. Actively pursue and secure resources (grants, contracts, user fees) to focus on these issues. Be a resource for county-based extension professionals, volunteers, partners, and clientele. Is a productive and proactive team member of the state 4-H office. May supervise student workers, office support staff, and/or programming staff. Responsible for grants management, including compliance with institutional policies and best practices.

 

 

 

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice.  These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Qualifications: Ph.D. required; Tenure track (or potential for tenure) in the Department of Extension
