Alabama Science in motion (ASIM) materials Support with the Alabama, Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI)

ASIM is the high school science component of AMSTI, the Alabama State Department of Education's initiative to improve STEM teaching statewide, including improvements in the individualized and integrated STEM subjects. AMSTI-ASIM supports schools by providing professional learning, educator support, and instructional materials needed to implement the current Alabama Course of Study Standards: Science.

DUTIES:

● Construct and/or refurbish ASIM kits● Assist with inventory control● Assist in organizing materials to ensure efficient use of space and storage of ASIM materials● Deliver and/or pick up scientific equipment, materials, and supplies to/from participating high school science teachers in the five counties served by the AMSTI-Athens site as scheduled● Follow safety procedures, both on the road and while loading/unloading vehicles, as instructed by Athens State University● Monitor the condition of the vehicle and report issues to specialists and/or the site director to ensure that any repairs/problems are attended to immediately● Meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, crouching/stooping, handling, pushing/pulling, repetitive movement, speaking, standing, walking/running, carrying, driving, keyboarding, reaching, sitting, squatting, twisting/bending, writing● Meet regular attendance and punctuality requirements● Maintain open communication with the site director, specialists, and teachers● Accomplish essential functions in a timely manner● Essential job duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all-inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
● Valid driver’s license required● Ability to operate Athens State University-owned motor vehicles while complying with safety codes, state and federal traffic rules, regulations, and safe operating practices● Ability to relate well to a diverse population● Proficient in the use of standard office software including email● Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication● The individual holding this position will serve as a representative of Athens State University and, as such, shall promote a positive impression by demonstrating a collegial and professional customer-service approach at all times.


Salary Schedule:
$15.00 per hour, 24 hours per week, TEMPORARY, No benefits.
