The Bouve College of Health Sciences has over 200 faculty members, with approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 2,400 graduate students. The Department of Health Sciences is a CEPH accredited Public Health Program that has over 900 undergraduate majors in a Bachelor of Science degree, a new Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Health, and combined majors. We have 280 graduate students in an accredited Master of Public Health, Master of Health Informatics, and Master of Science in Exercise Sciences, as well as PhDs in Population Health and Personal Health Informatics.

About the Opportunity:

The Department of Health Sciences, in Bouve College at Northeastern University, invites applications for full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions in health sciences and public health.

This job advertisement is recruiting for multiple positions in three different categories of full-time non-tenure track positions (Academic, 39 week and Calendar year, 52 week) appointments. Types of appointment will be determined based on applicants' experience and departmental needs.

Open Rank Teaching/Clinical Professor: Accepting applications for

full-time teaching positions with appointments at the ranks of Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor commensurate to applicable experience and qualifications.

Visiting Appointments: Accepting applications for one- or two-year visiting appointments.

Teaching Fellows:

We also strongly encourage advanced PhD candidates to apply as Teaching Fellows.

The starting dates for these positions will be July or August 2022. Candidates will also be considered to begin appointments during the Academic Year 2022-2023.

Applicants should have a strong background in one or more of the areas listed below. Background in experiential learning and practical applications of public health programs in diverse community settings are desired. Expertise in curriculum development, educational program planning, and program administration will be assets. Most teaching assignments will be for undergraduate courses (*indicates where graduate level teaching expertise is also desired):

*Biostatistics and Epidemiology: foundational concepts of biostatistics and research methods for public health research.

*Health Administration and Policy: elements of the US healthcare system including financing, insurance, and organizations; and policy mechanisms that shape healthcare provision and health outcomes in the US.

*Health Disparities: the impacts of socially constructed categories and discrimination and their intersection with healthcare delivery and public health approaches.

Health Communication and Health Education: theories and methods for communicating effectively and the creation, implementation, and evaluation of a health education or health intervention programs.

Nutrition: fundamental concepts of nutrition and health promotion and the physiological function of nutrients and connection to disease prevention; and applying knowledge about socioeconomic and cultural factors to public health nutrition and program planning.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and participating in departmental, college, and university service. This service may include student advising, committee work, curriculum development, courses/program development across the global university system, program evaluation and assessment, recruiting activities, and student mentoring, among others. Engagement in scholarship and/or continuing professional development is required. Our institution values highly the scholarship of teaching and supports scholarly/research activities in the faculty member's areas of interest.

Qualified candidates must have expertise in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with diverse student populations and/or in a culturally diverse work and educational environment.

Qualifications

Open Rank Teaching/Clinical Professor: a PhD or DrPH in Public Health, Population Health, Health Services Administration, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Communications, Nutrition, or related fields by the appointment start date.

Visiting Appointments: A minimum of a Master's degree in Public Health, Population Health, Health Services Administration, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Communications, Nutrition, or related fields is required by the appointment start date.

Teaching Fellows: A minimum of PhD candidacy with advanced standing in Public Health, Population Health, Health Services Administration, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Communications, Nutrition, or related fields is required by the appointment start date.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
