Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver projects that span across one or more departments. This position manages resources, schedules, and financials to ensure successful delivery and completion of capitally funded and operationally funded projects. This also includes management of design professionals, staff, materials, risk, safety, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Together with the Executive Director of Facilities, this position works to assess the needs of campus-wide asset improvements and preservation, establish budgets, and ensure the successful delivery of projects within those budgets.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible to direct and manage other Project Managers and Project Supervisors under their purview. This position has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis and verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality and customer satisfaction within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential goals and standards of the College.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple College departments.
  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities.
  • Manage all aspects of multiple trade and department related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities.
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • Develop and deliver status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership.
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues.
  • Identify and develop trusted adviser relationship with project and program stakeholders, sponsors and College stakeholders.
  • Continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices.
  • Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities.
  • Serve as liaison to town agencies such as building departments, Department of Transportation, zoning and planning board.
  • Provide on site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Develop conceptual budgets in the early stages of projects to gain board approval.
  • Communicate with campus community to inform of project schedules and assist if any departmental relocations are required or changes to other departments programmatic operations.
  • Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution.
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables.
  • Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director of Facilities Operations.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of five years of project management experience, including tracking and planning complex projects, experience in Higher Education sector preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional environment.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Projects. Experience presenting on these platforms to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership.
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic, interpersonal and motivational skills. This includes team building skills, and managing various team sizes both internal and external when applicable.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment. Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving problems, making decisions and identifying priorities. Ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills. Strong experience presenting to sponsors.
  • Experience negotiating vendor contracts.
  • Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget.
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Must support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
