Basic Function: This is a full-time, ten-month position that reports to Area Dean. The successful candidate will assume all public services responsibilities, overseeing and coordinating circulation, reference, and student and faculty bibliographic instruction in a medium-sized academic library. Emphasis will be on assuring that circulation functions are carried out in a manner consistent with the library's policies and procedures. The responsibilities of this position will also include collection development, electronic and remote services, implementation of new technologies and other professional activities and may include teaching library courses. Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, committee work, curriculum and program development, and student activities.

Education: MLS degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution OR The Equivalent. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions).
Experience: Three years experience as a public services librarian preferable in an academic library. Strong library automation background. Experience and/or coursework with library information technologies, electronic resources, online catalogues, databases, and the delivery of online library services.

Desirable: Experience with emerging library technologies, CD-ROM, campus networking, Internet, and other forms of emerging library technologies. Ability to learn new technologies and stay current with technical developments. Experience in reference and instructional services as well as preparation of handouts and documentation design and development. Excellent oral and written communication skill, true public service orientation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate reference and circulation functions in the library.
2. Write and release procedure for circulating the general collection, reserve and periodicals collection, and utilization of reference collection.
3. Coordinate all bibliographic instruction for faculty, staff and students for the library.
4. Assume responsibility for developing and conducting training sessions for librarians, student, and faculty on the use of information resources.
5. Assist in the creation and/or updating of the Library and Instructional Media Center web pages, developing media-based projects via web page construction, scanning and manipulating images and text, and video computing and editing.
6. Develop library procedures for reserves, Internet for the faculty, and evaluate services that take advantage of new technologies and facilitate the transaction of those services that are incorporated into departmental routines, including the development of policies, procedures, and training programs.
7. Assist in selecting and recommending automated and print sources for purchase by the library.
8. Participate in planning networking, electronic services, and any cooperative library program.
9. Manage the archive collection.
10. Participate in on-going library program review, strategic planning, and the development and implementation of new services and programs.
11. Participate in college activities and professional organization.
12. Develop and assess student learning outcomes.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Ten-month, tenure-track position.
2. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.

6. Maintain broad knowledge of academic or occupational area and design pedagogy related to learning outcomes.
