LSC-Houston North Fairbanks is located at Highway 290 and West Little York Road, near the Sam Houston Tollway. The Fairbanks location provides a variety of services to students including advising, registration, counseling, and tutoring. Academic programs include basic transfer courses, developmental studies, and English for Speakers of Other Languages.

Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, Evening and Weekend d irects and coordinates department activities during evening and weekend hours, creating and implementing processes to ensure effective operations . Reviews and analyzes reports, records, and directives, and confers with others to obtain data required for planning department activities such as prioritizing work, and status of work and problems encountered. Gives directions, resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work. Monitors costs and budgets and p rovides input into budget planning. Evaluates procedures, practices and personnel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in the overall operations of the department including budget planni ng, preparation and maintenance, ensuring all department procedures, practices and policie s are carried out appropriately
  • Manages, trains and supervises full time and pa r t time staff
  • Provide s verification informati on regarding students, including but not limited to acceptance letters, graduation verification, enrollment verification for external agencies and direct enro llment verification to students
  • Manages resolution process for student issues/complaints and commu nicates resolution to students; Acts as first- line management of student requests and issues, including but not limited to emergency tuition refunds, student complaints, withdrawal requests, grade questions, appeals, etc.
  • Works with recruitment and retentions areas to ensure support for activities; Ensures proper materials and information are available as needed
  • Provides faculty with Management support for student i ssues
  • Some positions may manage operations of assigned campus and associated Centers d uring evening and weekend hours; Includes ensuring safety, security, facility, emergency needs are being met
  • Manages special pr ograms and projects as assigned
  • Responsible for other reason able related duties as assigned

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:
    • PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equ ipment
    • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry ou t the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with min imal exposure to safety hazards
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 ye ars of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Work experience in a higher education setting
    Salary

    Hiring salary range is $48,152-$55,375

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
