Position Summary: The Senior Videographer/Editor is responsible for operating cameras in the college television studio as well as on location, utilizing video production tools such as cameras, tripods, microphones and lights. The Senior Videographer/Editor is responsible for editing video, editing audio, incorporating graphics and the delivery of different formats to different platforms. The Senior Videographer/Editor often leads teams through project lifecycles and takes part in multi-camera studio and remote productions, including operation of cameras, audio mixers, character generators and video switchers. The Senior Videographer/Editor manages assigned projects from pre-production through delivery.

The Video Services Department at JCCC consists of two groups - Video Production and Video Engineering. The Video Production team provides studio and remote productions, single and multiple camera recordings, editing, and publishing of video content. The Video Engineering team supports the Production Team, the campus digital signage system, the healthcare simulation system, the college cable channel, and several peer groups and venues on campus. The Video Services department is part of the Academic Support Division and is recognized as critical to supporting student satisfaction and retention, and student success.

Required Qualifications:

  • High-school diploma
  • Three years of experience in videography and editing
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor peers and influence best practices in an environment requiring strong collaboration
  • Ability to assume other duties as assigned, including training and scheduling of other team members
  • Experience with all aspects of studio and remote production, both setup and operation, including cameras, tripods, microphones, remote lighting, editing and graphics,
  • Understanding of basic 3-point lighting for video production
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse college community environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop
  • Ability to work a flex schedule to accommodate evening and weekend productions, including last-minute requests
  • Ability to work independently with minimum guidance
  • A leadership mentality, accustomed to working with many types of personalities
  • Flexibility, as working hours may vary

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree
  • Knowledge of Adobe Audition
  • Experience with color grading

    Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • PROVIDE DIRECTION AND CAMERA OPERATION FOR STUDIO AND REMOTE PRODUCTIONS - Sets up cameras, tripods, microphones and lights in the television studio and on location. Records interviews, b-roll, presentations, and events. Records voiceovers for narration. Adheres to industry standards of quality video production, including technical components such as appropriate iris, gain, white balance and audio levels, and aesthetic components such as composition. Plans and communicates in ways that result in successful recordings, while adhering to industry quality standards of video production.
  • PROVIDE VIDEO EDITING - Edits video with appropriate incorporation of music, transitions, effects, branding and pacing. Edits multiple audio tracks to optimize sound quality from event recordings with different audio sources. Ensures that video editing is in line with industry standards of video production related to audio levels, video and color levels, and delivery formats. Performs basic troubleshooting using the tools of the editing software and online resources. Shares knowledge with other members of the team, with the goal of helping each of them continue to learn. Completes projects efficiently and on-time, while adhering to industry quality standards of practice.
  • PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR MULTI-CAMERA PRODUCTIONS - Operates studio and remote audio mixers. Operates studio camera control units. Operates a character generator and video switcher. Directs teams as assigned on individual projects.
  • MANAGE AND PRODUCE PROJECTS AND WORKFLOWS - Acts as project lead on assigned productions. Understands purpose of project and reaches agreement with client regarding scope. Communicates appropriately with team and stakeholders throughout all phases of project. Tracks work on department project tracker and coordinates assigned projects to achieve successful results. Correctly labels and backs up footage with agreed upon naming conventions. Acts as a team leader in ensuring good practices are maintained. This may include ensuring inventory is in good shape and placed in the appropriate location, making sure that shared files and project management tracking data stays organized, and communicating best practices to other team members.
