Job Summary

The Technical Operations Coordinator position is a front-line representative assisting the Event Services Office (ES) with managing and scheduling the student a/v technician team and supporting a/v needs for events. The position will manage audio-visual support for live events on campus. The position will help support clients making a/v requests and schedule appropriate a/v equipment and student staff to support student events. The position will additionally help to solicit external a/v vendor support for department and co-sponsored events. The position is essential to ensuring the day-to-day operations of the office are maintained.

Essential Functions
  • Provide sound and audio-visual support and leadership for Drexel University on-campus events.
  • Assist groups with implementation and day-to-day operations of DIY A/V lending program for students.
  • Serve as an advanced user for various A/V systems used to support technical operations, including EMS reservation support software and WhenToWork scheduling web software.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating ongoing special a/v and technical operations projects as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating A/V for campus events and conferences by processing requests and scheduling staff, equipment, and services needed.
  • Work closely with Technical Operations Manager to properly support A/V related events and manage student staff.
  • Obtain quotes from vendors for A/V services necessary to support departmental and co-sponsored events and conferences on the University City campus.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and projects and act on behalf of the Technical Operations Manager of Event Services as directed.
  • Assist the Event Services Leadership team in creating departmental goals, A/V support goals, technology upgrades, etc.
  • Attend trainings and conferences when opportunities arise.
  • Support ES staff with daily problem solving by providing efficient and effective A/V technical support.
  • Hire, train, and supervisor student A/V workers to support technical operations.
  • Gather customer feedback related to A/V support on the university city campus; suggest opportunities for A/V support improvement.
  • Assist with maintaining A/V equipment and vehicle inventory and assess needs for restock of consumable items; suggest purchasing to Technical Operations Manager for replacement of damaged/inoperable items, consumable, and addition of new technologies to A/V inventory.
  • Identify repair and maintenance needs and report to Technical Operations Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors' Degree.
  • 2 years of relevant technical operations experience.
