Summary of Job Details:

The Marketing, Communications, and Engagement Director (Marketing Director) serves as a recognized expert, with significant impact and influence on organizational policy and program development. Regularly leads projects of critical importance to the organization. Due to UCEAP's self-funded status, the impact of these projects and initiatives on enrollment and advocacy for UCEAP carry substantial consequences. Directs organization-wide initiatives that include formulating strategies and policies, and administering processes and resources. Develops and implements comprehensive, strategic marketing plans and oversees the marketing, communications, and outreach efforts of UCEAP. Leads/supports external and internal communication strategies. Provides student outreach communications including the conceptualization, development, implementation, and review of multi-dimensional marketing programs; involves analysis of identified constituencies/student audiences and the development of programs, services, and outreach to meet identified needs and influence public perception; includes all media including web marketing and social media; involves "brand" development and/or enhancement. Under the direction of the Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director (Executive Director), creates comprehensive, integrated, cost-effective, and strategic marketing plans that support UCEAP's vision, mission, and student recruitment and participation goals. Identifies, conceptualizes and implements new marketing plans and related goals and objectives. Evaluates marketing efforts for efficiency and efficacy. In collaboration and consultation with senior staff and stakeholders formulates strategy to increase UCEAP's visibility and to meet UCEAP's short-term and long-term enrollment goals and objectives.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, business or related field or equivalent experience and/or training.

• 7-9 years experience in marketing, or related area, including team management and supervisory experience.

• Experience successfully developing and managing budgets for multiple projects.

• Knowledge of principles and methods of developing a comprehensive, strategic marketing program.

• Demonstrated capacity to envision, design, and implement a successful and comprehensive marketing and communications strategy in an organization with complexity characteristic of a university or similar organization.

• Ability to think strategically and execute strategic marketing programs through effective management of multidimensional communication channels including digital and social media.

• Demonstrated collaboration, data-driven decision making, and strategic skills characteristic of a leadership-level marketing position.

• Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication abilities and strong presentation skills.

• Working knowledge of advertising, creative design, copy writing and editing, web design, social media, and branding development.

• Knowledge of current marketing and communications trends and emerging technologies in marketing applications, including ability to understand and apply market research, strategies and tactics, and demonstrated experience in utilizing marketing analytics to guide decision-making.

• Previous success in producing and driving successful content strategy that effectively attracts significant, desired audience through traditional and non-traditional channels, including digital platforms.

• Solid organizational skills to lead a team working on multiple, simultaneous projects of varying complexity levels with competing and sometimes changing deadlines; ability to establish goals and workload priorities, and complete projects within budget and time constraints.

• Proven ability to lead a cohesive marketing and communications team.

• Ability to effectively delegate and provide direction under stringent deadlines, and to coach and evaluate professionals.

• Demonstrated team-orientation and client-focus with ability to work collaboratively; self-starter with ability to work as part of a larger team, and to balance interests and needs of a variety of stakeholders in a complex, consensus-based setting.

• Ability to facilitate consultation with and advisement to leaders and stakeholders such as Regional and IT Directors, , web group, campus administrators and staff across all UC campuses, regarding coordination of marketing strategies, activities and deliverables.

• Ability to interact with, and provide smooth interface among, constituencies with diverse priorities.

• Proven ability to propose and implement strategic and innovative solutions to problems with a positive, collaborative approach.

• Demonstrated history of establishing credibility, earning trust, and gaining the confidence of diverse constituents by seeking and incorporating feedback into decisions, while integrating the needs of stakeholders into a cohesive strategy.

• Thorough familiarity with marketing analytics and data management tools.

• Occasionally required to work outside of business hours in cases of emergency. Assists leadership and/or serves as the primary contact in fielding media inquiries and directing staff to update the website and social media appropriately.

• Eligible for remote, hybrid, or on-site work arrangement.

• Work schedule to align with Pacific Time business hours.

• In accordance with UCSB policy, travel expenses for professional development activities are calculated and reimbursed up to the costs for travel to and from the UCEAP Systemwide Office location in Goleta, CA.

 

Pay Rate/Range:  $91,300 to $116,400/yr.

Days/Hours: M-F; 8am - 5pm Pacific Time (or similar schedule)
