The Rowan University Department of Music is seeking to hire a Lecturer in Music Business.

This position will have responsibilities to teach courses that may include but not limited to Business of Music, Music Publishing, Marketing, Touring & Concert Promotion, Capstone Project and Music Industry Internship.

Other responsibilities and service to the department will include:
  • Manage Rowan Music Group (RMG), the Rowan student-run record label

  • Assist with coordinating concert bookings and promotion

  • Coordinate and organize live music performances organization for the Intro to Music Performance course

  • Assist the program director with open houses and tours

  • Assist with recruitment and admissions of students

  • Collaborate with the program director and studio manager on budgeting and equipment purchases planning

  • Book and coordinate guest lectures

  • Curriculum development

  • Administer student evaluations for adjuncts

  • Assist the Music Industry program director with various tasks as needed

Required qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the music industry or related field

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • An expert level of understanding of record deals, publishing deals, artist management, producer deals, songwriter deals and concert bookings in deals for recording, publishing, and songwriting, as well as artist management and concert/tour booking

  • A thorough understanding of current music industry trends, marketing, branding and promotion

  • Current connections with major and independent record labels

  • Ability to secure student internships

Teaching experience is preferred and the successful candidate must be student centered and have a strong commitment to student learning. The qualified candidate will be expected to work collaboratively within the Music Department and the wider group of education professionals and Rowan community.
