Position Summary

The Lamar Dodd School of Art in Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and The Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Interiors in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences ( FACS ) at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time joint Lecturer position in Interior Design with expertise in interior design and/or architecture. This Lecturer will be a vital member of the collaborative community of both units, working with colleagues to develop curricula and expand programs, and engaging in student mentorship. This is a non-tenure track position with an emphasis on teaching and is renewable annually with full benefits. The annual evaluations and promotion consideration will be conducted by the Lamar Dodd School of Art. The position will begin August 2023.

The position requires teaching eight courses per year (4 each semester) in Interior Design and Furnishings and Interiors. The nine-month non tenure-track appointment is expected to be 62.5 % teaching (5 courses) in the Lamar Dodd School of Art and 37.5% teaching (3 courses) in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Interiors.

Minimum Qualifications

All applicants should hold a terminal degree in interior design, architecture, or related field.

Additional Requirements

Candidates with a non-terminal master’s degree must document exceptional accomplishments in their respective field and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

All applicants should hold NCIDQ certification at time of appointment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Candidates should demonstrate potential to teach a spectrum of interior design courses. The successful candidate will have expertise in design practice and will be prepared to instruct undergraduates and graduate students within a diversely constituted School of Art and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
