Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Students and provides direct services in the form of both non-clinical case management and investigating student misconduct cases. This position will manage a case load to provide guidance and referrals to support student success. Responsibilities will include intake and assessment of referred students facing non-academic challenges, and providing needed resources. In addition, this role will serve as part of a team of investigators for student misconduct and Title IX cases within the Dean of Students Office. The position will be housed on the Green Bay campus, but serve students at all UW-Green Bay locations.

What You'll Do

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary resource and referral source for students/clients in dealing with a crisis and/or mental health issues.
  • Assesses needs of students and provides or recommends interdisciplinary care in coordination with campus resources.
  • Creates, implements, coordinates, and monitors management plans to assist students in meeting academic and person goals.
  • Facilitates the reporting of student complaints, conducts preliminary investigations into student conduct as appropriate, and organizes conduct hearings to resolve student conduct cases.
  • Ensures that student conduct is administered in a fair, impartial, non-adversarial, restorative, and educational manner through the recruitment and training of conduct officers and the hearing board.
  • Coordinates temporary impairment accommodations.
  • Engages in proactive outreach and education in support of student success and wellness.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree at time of application
  • 2 years of related experience in case management, student housing, student misconduct or student affairs
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness and resourcefulness
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of desktop hardware and standard business software programs (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database) and the Internet

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or related area 
  • An understanding and knowledge of higher education legal issues including the Clery Act, Title IX, FERPA, ADA and VAWA
  • Past success working collaboratively with other departments and diverse groups of people
  • Attention to detail, proofreading and editing skills
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Oneida
  • Experience working in an education environment

Conditions of Appointment

Position is a full-time, Academic Staff appointment.  This position will be fully in-person, on campus. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Compensation and Benefits

Minimum salary of $45,000.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Benefit Details

The UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
