Job Summary

The Digital Content Analyst provides substantial, dedicated support for the Alumni Affairs website and social media channels (80%) and provides general content development and analytical reporting of user interactions on other university digital properties, including SJSU.edu, SJSU.edu/Online (20%).

The position is responsible for working across UMC and Alumni Engagement to identify stories in development that would be of interest to SJSU alumni, collaborating with content writers and individually crafting new content as needed, distributing that content to alumni through a variety of communication channels, reporting on engagement and refining future curation and content development based on engagement data. This position manages and posts content to the Alumni website and social media channels. Additionally, this role will collaborate with other members of the UMC digital team, including the Digital Marketing and Communications Manager and the UX/UI Designer to enhance how the university represents itself online and by extension, its alumni. This role, with a solid line to UMC Director of Digital Marketing and a dotted line to Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and the Alumni Association, works to keep alumni informed, champions the value of graduating from SJSU and lays the groundwork for alumni fundraising.

  • Excellent public relations, customer service, and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications such as Google Suite, iModules, CRM, and social media platforms and tools
  • Demonstrated expertise in and advanced knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public and business administration
  • Expertise in administrative survey techniques, operations and systems analysis, statistical and research methods, and the ability to interpret and evaluate results to develop sound conclusions and recommendations
  • Ability to understand problems from a broad, interactive perspective and discern applicable underlying principles to conceive of and develop strategic solutions
  • Ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects
  • Demonstrated consultative skills in working with internal and external constituent groups
  • Ability to effectively present ideas and concepts in written or presentation format and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus
  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved

Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training
  • Four years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Experience in a fast-paced office with competing priorities
  • Experience with iModules, Google Suite, social media platforms and tools
  • Three years of related work experience in communications


Compensation

Classification: Administrative Analyst/Specialist – Exempt II
Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,037/month - $6,420/month
CSU Salary Range: $5,022/month - $9,083/month

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. SJSU will issue a contingent offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
