Areas of specialization are open, but preference will be given to applicants with teaching and research interests in one or more of the following areas: Intelligence and Crime Analysis, Advanced Criminology, or Research Methods (to include mapping/GIS applications). A record of effective prior teaching and the potential for scholarly/creative accomplishments that support appointment at the level of assistant professor are expected. An ideal candidate will have full time teaching experience and be willing to teach an array of courses to support the needs of our cohesive academic community. The visiting Assistant Professor may have student advising responsibilities and may serve on school, college, and/or university committees as assigned by the Director.

The residential program of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Norwich University emphasizes the importance of evidence-based knowledge in understanding crime policy, programs and practice. It also strives to cultivate commitment to the principles of justice, ethics, public service and the development of leadership skills in its students. With nearly 500 students enrolled in our residential undergraduate B.A. program, criminal justice is the most popular major at Norwich. The School seeks dynamic teacher/scholar specialists whose work is on the leading edge of the field.

Requirements:

A Ph.D. or terminal degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology or a related field at the time of appointment. Exceptional ABD candidates who will have completed requirements for the Ph.D. not later than August 2023 will be considered.

Experience in teaching at the college level is required, with a preference for those with experience teaching in one or more of the key subject areas indicated, in a small classroom environment. 

Candidates should possess potential for academic research and publication consistent with their level of experience.
