Job Description
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) provides university-level support to students and faculty to ensure the highest level of access to and quality of the undergraduate research experience. OUR also supports the data needs for units within Undergraduate Education, providing access to university data to measure student outcomes and supporting the team through all stages of the data cycle. The Assistant Director, under the supervision and mentorship of the Director of Undergraduate Research, will contribute to both of these critical missions. The Assistant Director will serve as a “face” of the Office of Undergraduate Research, educating students and the broader university community about undergraduate research opportunities, services offered by OUR, and how to maximize the undergraduate research experience. The Assistant Director will manage summer programming for undergraduate research programs and the Undergraduate Research Excellence Program. The Assistant Director will train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students who serve in OUR and will serve as a project manager for the data team, including maintaining databases.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree with related experience equivalent to graduate level degree or Master's degree
● Experience working with students to promote their professional development
● Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
● Excellent communication skills including the ability to give effective presentations to large
groups
● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
● Proficiency with Google and Microsoft suites of tools, including spreadsheets and
databases
● Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of datasets containing sensitive
information
Preferred Qualifications
● Master’s degree
● Experience conducting research, especially as an undergraduate
● Supervisory experience
● Background or experience in data science and/or statistics
