Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with student programming.
  • Demonstrated experience with Appalachian students, staff, systems, and procedures.
  • Experience with Drupal, Banner, Access, Excel, and/or Dashboard.
  • 2-5 years of business, professional, and/or higher education work experience or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated administrative, organizational, and event management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with marketing and designing print materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • General experience with p-card processes and general purchasing.
License/Certification Required
Valid driver’s license is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The mission of the Walker College of Business is to deliver transformational educational experiences that prepare and inspire students to be ethical, innovative, and engaged business leaders who positively impact our community, both locally and globally. The college has an enrollment of approximately 3,600 undergraduate and over 180 graduate students and maintains accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Business Career Services exists to prepare future leaders through transformational career education and professional development. We aspire to guide students to have access to and leverage the tools and resources they need and are equipped and empowered to independently seek future opportunities and work that is fulfilling.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Student Programming
  • Career Fair: Support the planning and execution of signature events for as many as 1500 students and prospective employers at a time, providing event structure, staffing, and management from concept to delivery under the direction of the Associate Director.
  • Women of Walker: Co-advise professional development program for up to 30 female business majors in the Walker College of Business. The spring semester program includes bi-weekly evening interactions and regional overnight travel with student group for employer site visits.
  • Pre-Admissions: Counsel high school students on university and major selection and lead the WCOB team for Open House Tours, Inside Appalachian and all other pre-admission events. Walker Fellows are utilized in the delivery of building tours and pre-admission events.
Supervision
  • Co-lead in the supervision of the Walker Fellows student employee team. Supervision includes training, performance evaluations, schedule creation and maintenance, create and maintain the operating budget and payroll and manage scheduling and coverage of all Walker Fellows for front desk and events.
Marketing and Communication
  • Conceptualize, design and manage the Center’s brand, advertising, and marketing materials (printed, online and programmatic).
Budgeting and Administration
  • Monitor and reconciles departmental or program budget and tracks travel and office expenditures.
  • Supports Executive Director in management of overall budget based on fund allocations and overall spending.
  • In-depth knowledge of P Card purchasing policies and procedures and university policies and procedures.
  • Manage Center facilities including overall calendar management and room reservations for center events.
Suggested Salary Range $40,000 - $46,000 Physical Demands of Position
Typical physical demands of professional position within university office area.
