Job Details

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Lecturer and Director of Intelligence Practice in the Department of Intelligence and Security Studies. Created in 2021, the Intelligence and Security Studies Department is currently composed of 8- full-time faculty and approximately 300 undergraduate students. This appointment begins in the Fall 2023 semester. In addition to teaching 18 semester hours per academic year, the Director of Intelligence Practice will be expected to develop relationships with practitioners in the field of intelligence and security in order to deepen professional connections between the Department of Intelligence and Security Studies and the United States Intelligence Community, as well as the corporate sector (to include the Core Defense Industry, government contractors, Fortune 500 firms and the non-profit sector). The Director of Intelligence Practice will also oversee the Intelligence Mentors Program, an effort intended to connect our students with current practitioners in the field and expand our Department’s profile in the intelligence practitioner community.

 

Candidates are required to have a master’s degree in a relevant field of study, as well as demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience in intelligence-related courses. The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate courses in the area of military intelligence, the role of intelligence in war, national security strategy, and intelligence analysis. The candidate will also have a strong record of developing educational opportunities and professional collaborations with intelligence organizations in the U.S. defense sector. While not required, senior-level experience in military intelligence is highly desirable.
