Job Summary

Under the Executive Director of the College of Nursing and Health Professions Community Wellness HUB (CNHP Community Wellness HUB), the Certified Medical Assistant/Receptionist is responsible for supporting the services offered and managing all front desk activities at the CNHP Community Wellness HUB. This person will also collaborate with health care providers at the CNHP Community Wellness HUB (i.e., physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and others) regarding health services, health education programs, and screening services. This position requires following directives, communicating effectively, and providing administrative support. The Health Education Coordinator will report to the CNHP Community Wellness HUB Executive Director.

Essential Functions
  • Serves as the receptionist for the CNHP Community Wellness HUB and performs under the supervision of the Executive Director during open hours of Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, including:
    • Greets staff and visitors of the CNHP Community Wellness HUB.
    • Triages participants’ visits and phone calls appropriately.
    • Enters data into participant health records as needed.
  • Performs health screenings (i.e., vital signs, weights, blood glucose, cholesterol, immunizations, etc.) and refers abnormal values to the Executive Director or Nurse Practitioner on staff for appropriate follow-up and next steps.
    • Supports health care providers by collecting participant information.
    • Maintains participants’ health records, including documentation of referral and follow-up.
    • Coordinates clinical workflows.
  • Assists with health education and screening program implementation.
  • Assists with outreach and engagement for recruiting participants to the various health promotion programs.
  • Attends and participates in various clinical staff and community meetings.
  • Assists with establishing resource linkages to external health care clinical service providers, social support resources, and links to internal services and resources within the CNHP Community Wellness HUB.
  • Participates occasionally in public and community gatherings/meetings on behalf of the CNHP Community Wellness HUB, such as community dinners/food gatherings, health fairs, community events, and pop-ups.
  • Attends and assists with the CNHP Community Wellness HUB Health Advisory Board meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program with Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certifying Board.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer applications.
  • Exhibits proficient organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work within a community setting with diverse populations.
  • Has proficient problem-solving, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Holds solid collaborative skills to relate to and communicate with diverse individuals in various forums.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow directives, attention to detail, and follow through on all assignments.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to all situations as appropriate

  • Works with Executive Director to evaluate clinical implementation plan.
  • Designs and implements a tracking protocol for community residents attending services and programs.
  • Attends and participates in various clinical staff and community meetings.
  • Assists with establishing resource linkages to external health care clinical service providers, social support resources, and links to internal services and resources within the CNHP Community Wellness HUB.
  • Assists with the promotion of health education and screening program implementation.
  • Participates occasionally in public and community relations and meeting functions on behalf of the CNHP Community Wellness HUB.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to all situations as appropriate.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as community programs dictate.
