The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professor to educate members of the Special Operations Forces military and other national security professionals for service at the operational and strategic levels. The incumbent will engage in teaching and learning, research and analysis, and service and outreach.

Applicants should have a PhD. and an interdisciplinary scholarly interest and evidence of original research in a combination of the social sciences and humanities. Must work collaboratively across departments and must possess working knowledge of the Special Operations Forces educational ecosystem and working knowledge of informational advantage, strategic competition, influence and information warfare. Expertise in two or more of the following fields: communication, political communication or cultural studies, political science, international relations, media studies, strategic studies, security studies, history, cultural anthropology, political-sociology, or a related interdisciplinary field from an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education with 10 or more years of experience. Appointee will serve as a subject-matter expert in the interdisciplinary studies and sub-disciplines/sub-fields relating to communication, media persuasion, and social sciences as they relate to deterrence and strategic competition. Publication record in at least one competitive peer-reviewed journal and the ability to produce peer-reviewed research, books, and other relevant publications a plus. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Other Duties Include:

Teaching and Learning (T&L). Participates and supports education and leader development activities as an individual with vision and leadership qualities, who can build strong working relationships with students, faculty, and internal staff as well as supporting staff at the Combatant Command level. Research and Analysis (R&A)  Performs research and analysis in order to publish or inform publications that contribute to the JSOU Press, journal articles, policy-oriented essays, operational publications focused on education, blog postings, special reports, books, or book chapters. Service and Outreach (S&O). Conducts both internal and external service to JSOU on a variety of special operations and leader development issue areas for both special operations operators and their enablers.

Incumbent is responsible to ensure the core classified national information protection security disciplines of information are fully covered from a policy and programmatic viewpoint to ensure overall information protection requirements meet mission requirements.
