Purchasing & Security Specialist

Facilities Management

Full Time

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and communicate building security policy and procedures regarding keys and locks
  • Maintain an audit of keys/locks for all campus buildings and for all university and non-university personnel
  • Provides assistance during renovations and/or construction of facilities to determine coring schemes
  • Maintains and administers key software management systems
  • Process requisitions and purchase orders; obtains bids and quotes
  • Reconciles purchasing card transactions for all stores purchases
  • Maintains documentation for all purchases of supplies, materials and services for the department
  • Communicates with vendors and Purchasing Department; resolves issues
  • Assist in annual physical warehouse inventory
  • Oversees fixed asset inventory of department
  • Assist in processing work orders via computerized work order system
  • Supervise student employees


  • Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficient computer skills and experience including Microsoft Office software
  • Strong math skills and ability to analyze, verify and reconcile data
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction and/or maintenance services and terminology
  • Familiarity with inventory and warehouse operations
  • Knowledge of cores, keys, locks, and other security system supplies
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and methods
  • Knowledge of building maintenance/construction terminology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
