  • Experience organizing, monitoring, and assessing education-related programs and projects
  • Experience with event coordination
  • Experience working with culturally and socioeconomically diverse students
  • Bilingual: Spanish
Job Description

Responsible for providing professional support to a grant.

Reporting to the Director of Transfer Initiatives, the Transfer Navigator provides assistance to students interested in transferring to ensure a smooth transition to Texas State University. The Transfer Navigator will provide and assess programs and services that positively impact transfer retention and graduation. The Transfer Navigator will be a key point of contact for students who anticipate transferring to Texas State University and is responsible for implementing programs and services that will have a positive impact on transfer retention and graduation. While this position will assist all transfer students, they will specialize in degree programs serving pre-service teachers.

Job Duties
  • Coordinate, plan, and prepare for transfer navigation sessions.
  • Assist students with questions and issues related to transfer.
  • Explain institutional policies and procedures.
  • Advise students on academic eligibility and available options.
  • Refer students to appropriate sources of help.
  • Respond to inquiries from parents, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide in person and virtual information sessions on TXST and pre-service teacher degree programs.
  • Evaluate and conduct assessments of retention and academic support programs for transfer students.
  • Enter/update student contact data, develop and maintain accurate records and work logs.
  • Participate in university efforts directed toward recruitment and retention.
  • Some travel to the Texas State University Round Rock campus and community colleges required. Transfer Navigator will be reimbursed for travel expenses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
