Shenandoah University’s School of Nursing is accepting applications for an Undergraduate Clinical Placement Coordinator. This is a part-time benefited position located on our Scholar Plaza campus in Leesburg, Virginia.

Reporting

The Clinical Placement Coordinator reports directly to the Program Director and works closely with the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Dean of the Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing

Summary

The Undergraduate Clinical Placement Coordinator facilitates clinical rotations for undergraduate courses with a clinical component within the SON. The person collaborates with the Program Directors, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, and course faculty coordinators for optimal learning experiences.

Description of duties and responsibilities
  • Facilitate communication between the academic institution and affiliated clinical education sites.
  • Maintain a professional and collegial relationship with all clinical affiliates.
  • Develop relationships with clinical partners to maintain a sufficient number of clinical education sites to ensure quality, quantity, and diversity of learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with course faculty coordinators to establish optimal clinical education sites
  • Request clinical sites for students
  • Facilitate quality-learning experiences for students during clinical practice and practicum internships.
  • Educate students and clinical faculty about clinical education requirements.
  • Maintain compliance documents for students and clinical faculty according to the affiliate’s requirements.
  • Facilitate scheduling of adjunct faculty for clinical rotation needs
  • Serve as a resource person for faculty and students as it relates to clinical rotation needs
  • Manage documentation of clinical placements and student clinical requirements in the database platform (EXXAT)
Required Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to present effectively
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate learning needs to develop an optimal plan for clinical rotations based on course curricular objectives
  • Technical and leadership skills
  • Ability to provide guidance and leadership to clinical faculty
  • Understanding of clinical rotation request procedures and student/faculty readiness process
Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Light physical activity. Work may involve standing or walking, usually for not more than 4 hours a day.
  • Work is performed in an interior academic environment
  • Work may involve some exposure to the inpatient hospital setting that requires following standard precautions (Flu vaccine, et al.)
Required Experience

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative environment
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical and leadership skills
