Clemson University: College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences: Industrial Engineering
Fluor Endowed Chair
Location: Clemson, SC
Description
The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) at Clemson University invites applications and nominations for the Fluor Endowed Chair. The Endowed Chair position is the highest designation afforded a faculty member at Clemson University. Successful candidates will have an exemplary record of scholarship, external research funding, teaching, and service, and will be expected to articulate a research vision that promotes collaboration between Clemson IE, national and regional industry partners, and other stakeholders. The position is open to all areas of industrial engineering and operations research; however, preference will be given to candidates working in the areas of optimization, artificial intelligence, and other data-driven methods for decision making. Individuals with a strong record of multidisciplinary research collaborations that address important societal challenges in application areas including supply chain and logistics, healthcare, sustainability, manufacturing, and transportation are especially encouraged to apply.
The College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences at
Clemson University is building several strategic,
cross-disciplinary faculty clusters to advance research and
education in four thrusts: Next Generation Computing,
Infrastructure & Sustainable Environment, Future Materials, and
Health Innovation & Human Performance. With this increasing
emphasis on cross-disciplinary collaborations, joint appointments
with multiple departments are feasible.
The ideal candidate will be a scholar with leadership skills to
expand disciplinary boundaries and address important technical and
societal challenges by sustaining an externally funded research
program supported by federal, state, and industry sources.
Additionally, the Fluor Chair will be an outstanding contributor to
the educational mission of the University and have a willingness to
mentor junior faculty members. We are seeking candidates who value
collaboration, academic excellence, collegiality, and a diverse and
inclusive work environment.
The Department of Industrial Engineering currently has 23 full-time
faculty members with continued growth expected over the next few
years. We have a student population of more than 500 undergraduate
students, 125 M.S. students, and 40 Ph.D. students. Furthermore,
our online Master of Engineering (MEng) program has over 80
enrolled students. Additional information about the Department can
