Job Summary
The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s Office of Career Development and Corporate Relations ( CDCR ) seeks candidates for a Career Counselor. The mission of the CDCR is to equip and empower engineering students to discover, develop, and launch professional experiences and purposeful careers. This position will coach students and alumni concerning the discovery of career interests, seeking and securing experiential and professional opportunities, and navigating the transition from college to career. Provides career coaching for engineering students and collaborates with team members to develop new programs and initiatives in support of student professional development. Implementation of these programs will involve coordinating, organizing, and presenting at programs, workshops, and other events, and working closely with staff and corporations.

Essential Functions
- Provide individual and group career counseling/coaching for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni at all stages of career development. Counseling/coaching topics include (but are not limited to) major and career choices, networking development and strategies, resume and cover letter writing, industry and employer research, interviewing skills, graduate school preparation, workplace transition, internship/co-op/job search strategies.
- Participate in student tracking and evaluation processes designed to assess student activity, satisfaction, and achievement of learning objectives.
- Serve as a liaison between students and employers, conveying company recruitment needs to students as appropriate. Develop content knowledge and expertise of industry areas for graduate and undergraduate level recruitment needs.
- Facilitate creative and engaging workshops or class presentations on a variety of career topics such as Career Exploration in Engineering, elevator pitches, preparing targeted resumes and cover letters, networking strategies, job and internship search, and navigating the job search for international students.
- Collaborate with the career coaching team to evaluate and enhance programs and services to address student needs.
- Collaborate with Faculty to respond to course presentation requests and customize content to the needs of the department or course.
- Research, develop, and deliver industry-specific programming and invite relevant guest speakers.
- Provide career presentations or CDCR representation at the College of Engineering or campus-wide events such as Engineering Day, Center for Inclusive Engineering Excellence conferences, Camp War Eagle, etc.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Relations team to assure a complimentary interface of programs and services for students interested in career fairs, employer visits, and position listings related to unique interests.
- Participate in staffing events such as the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering Career Fairs, ASCE / ASABE Career Fair, Employer Roundtable events, and other events as necessary by providing logistical support and/or additional coaching appointments.
- Develop relationships with cross-campus career services partners. Attend and contribute to career counselor campus-wide group meetings to share and develop professional practices.

Experience in providing career counseling and planning services or advising, student data collection and interpretation, career-related CSM (client management system)
