Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) - Fine and Performing Arts (Music)

Job Description:

 The music program at Baruch College, CUNY, seeks a passionate and dedicated teacher, currently completing or having recently attained the Ph.D. in historical musicology, for a Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) position beginning Fall 2023. Lecturers are eligible for a Certificate of Continuous Employment (tenure-like status) based on teaching excellence and dedicated service. All degree requirements must be met by the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year.

The faculty member will principally teach creative core music appreciation courses and courses in music history and literature to a community that includes music majors and music minors. Other responsibilities may include directing undergraduate research projects, advisement, and the like.

The faculty member will be an active participant in departmental and college-level committees and will share responsibility for academic governance, which may include curricular development and program review.

Compensation and Benefits:      

$67,684 - $79,170; commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
