About this Opportunity

The School of Kinesiology at Ball State University is seeking part-time semester instructors who are qualified to teach face-to-face or online courses in one or more of the following disciplines: aquatics, exercise science, physical education, sport administration, physical fitness wellness, sport and exercise psychology, biomechanics, athletic coaching education, exercise physiology, or athletic training.

Description

The School of Kinesiology at Ball State University is seeking part-time semester instructors who are qualified to teach face-to-face or online courses in one or more of the following undergraduate disciplines: aquatics, exercise science, physical education, sport administration, or physical fitness and wellness; or in one or more of the following graduate disciplines: Sport and Exercise Psychology, Sport Administration, Sports Performance, Biomechanics, Athletic Coaching Education, Exercise Physiology, and Athletic Training.
1. Teach one to three credit hour courses.
2. Create a standardized syllabus.
3. Be available to students.
4. Manage Canvas course site and submit grades.
Also, under the direction of the Program Coordinator:
• Develop and manage syllabus materials. The adjunct Instructor is responsible for selecting and compiling tests, assignments and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to course learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
• Coordinate courseware and curriculum with the Program Coordinator. The adjunct Instructor is responsible for reviewing any textbook and other courseware changes with the Program Coordinator and other full-time faculty teaching the course.
• Facilitate class instruction. The adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching the assigned class in accordance with learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
• Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics.
Original official transcripts and licensure/credentials in respective field of expertise are required at time of appointment.

The applicant pool will be used for up to one year from the posting date to hire individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

For undergraduate classes, earned master’s degree from an accredited college or university by time of appointment in aquatics, exercise science, physical education, sport administration, kinesiology, health education, or closely related field (must have a minimum of 18 credit- hours of graduate courses in the relevant discipline); for graduate classes, must have earned a terminal degree from an accredited college or university by time of appointment.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience in a college setting.
Prior work experience in respective field of expertise.

Required Certifications/Licensures

Licensure or credentials in respective field of expertise.

The School provides comprehensive educational programs related to understanding the impact physical activity has on health, society, and quality of life for the general population as well as children, older adults, athletes, and people with disabilities, injuries, or disease. The School features about 35 committed faculty members and approximately 750 students through undergraduate programs in aquatics, coaching, exercise science, physical education and health, and sport administration, and graduate programs in athletic coaching education, athletic training, biomechanics, clinical exercise physiology, exercise physiology, sport administration, sport and exercise psychology, and human bioenergetics (PhD). As part of the University Core Curriculum, the School also houses the physical fitness and wellness ( PFW ) program that reflects Ball State’s commitment to positively impacting quality of life and the University’s mission of students living meaningful lives and thriving in fulfilling careers. To support our students and faculty, the School also houses 7 state of the art laboratories for both teaching and research: Human Performance Laboratory ( HPL ), Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory, Biomechanics Laboratory, Sport and Exercise Psychology Laboratory, Undergraduate Exercise Science and First Aid Laboratory, Integrative Exercise Physiology Laboratory, and the Athletic Training Teaching and Research Laboratory.
