Most Emeritus classes are offered Monday
through Friday, between the hours of 8:00am and 8:30pm. Employees
must reside in California while employed with NOCCCD, even during
North Orange Continuing Education is now accepting applications for
part-time noncredit Emeritus Program (formally Older Adults
Program) instructors to teach at our main campuses, community-based
locations, and online through Distance Education (DE) starting in
the 2021-22 academic year. Subjects may include, but are not
limited to: Communication, Creative Arts. Physical and Brain
Health, and Mature Driver. Part-time, temporary, hourly assignments
are on an as-needed basis.
Various schedules and locations are available. Hours will vary
depending on class(es) assigned.
Health & Wellness for Older Adults
- Learn the
benefits of adopting behaviors associated with healthy and
successful aging. Focus on the natural effects of the aging process
and the benefits of being proactive by using a healthy diet,
managing chronic conditions, and engaging in routine physical
activity as a means to living with optimum independence.
History of Comedy and Humor for Older Adults
This class offers an informative look at past and present forms of
comedy and humor for older adults as they relate to their life
experiences and what they that makes them laugh. Older adults
students become aware of the influences, various mediums, elements
and forms of comedy and humor that have influenced people
Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be
representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right
to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance
with operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible
transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your
application will be deemed incomplete and removed from
Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.

qualifications must be submitted

Bachelor’s degree with a major related to the subject of the course
taught, and either:
(A) Thirty hours or two semester units of course work or class work
in understanding the needs of the older adult taken at an
accredited institution of higher education or approved by the
district. This requirement may be completed concurrently during the
first year of employment as a noncredit instructor; or (B) One year
of professional experience working with older adults;
Associate degree with a major related to the subject of the course
taught; and two years of occupational experience related to the
subject of the course taught; and sixty hours or four semester
units of coursework or classwork in understanding the needs of the
older adult, taken at an accredited institution of higher education
or approved by the district. This last requirement may be completed
concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit
Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service
in a community college in the appropriate subject matter
The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related
education, training, employment and professional experience that
would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this
field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.
Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated

Experience designing and teaching curricula responsive to the needs
of historically underrepresented and/or marginalized
Master’s degree in related field.
Experience teaching Emeritus courses for adult education or
Experience with curriculum development.
Possession of strong computer skills and ability to learn and
effectively use technology and software.
Demonstrated ability to integrate 21st century learning skills and
digital literacy effectively into instruction.
Understanding of, and the ability to implement, effective online
Experience teaching distance education courses, including
demonstrated experience with online learning management systems
(LMS) such as Canvas.
NOTE: Instructors are expected to comply with the training
requirements to teach online or remotely as determined by Campus
