Job Details
NIH funded post-doctoral position is available immediately to study epigenetic regulation of pain in the Department of Physiology & Pharmacology, Drexel University College of Medicine. Efforts will be directed at investigating gene regulation by microRNAs, their use as potential biomarkers for pain and exploration of novel therapeutic intervention strategies for treating pain. Exosome-mediated information transfer in the context of inflammatory and neuropathic pain using in vitro systems, rodent models, and blood samples from patients with chronic pain will be pursued. Scientific creativity, excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills are essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personnel involved in various aspects of the project are needed.
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or a related field. Candidates must have experience in standard molecular/cellular biological techniques including DNA and RNA isolation, real-time PCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, and mammalian tissue culture. Experience working with rodent models is desirable. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with strong work ethic, methodical approach to new challenges and attention to details.
