Job Summary:
Marist College invites application for the position of Counselor, CMA/HEOP. This position will counsel and support program students on academic, personal, financial and career matters, function as primary advisor to undeclared program students, organize workshops and events, and oversee the CMA Men’s Group- Agents of Social Change. The Counselor will participate in the recruitment, interviewing and selection process of prospective program students, aid program students in applying for outside scholarships, and assist with planning the HEOP summer program.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social work, or related field and 1-3 years of relevant experience required. Experience working with diverse student populations from diverse ethnic, cultural, sexual orientation, and socio-economic backgrounds. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work weekend and evening hours for the academic year.
Essential Functions:
- Counsel HEOP, AEP and CMA students on academic, personal, financial and career development matters.
- Serve as primary advisor to undeclared program students.
- Organize, plan and implement workshops, events, developmental retreats.
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of prospective students.
- Research, develop and present developmental and diversity workshops for sponsored program students, student groups, first year seminars and other courses.
- Participate with the planning and execution of college wide events sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Affairs.
- Assist HEOP and AEP students in applying for outside scholarships.
- Assist with the planning of the HEOP Summer Program.
Master’s degree in a related field. Previous experience using Banner a plus.
