The University of Saint Francis (www.sf.edu), a Catholic, Franciscan institution in the liberal arts tradition seeks applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). Under the direction of the President, the VPAA is the chief academic officer responsible for the implementation of academic programming and academic support services. The VPAA has responsibility to maintain academic excellence, to promote teaching excellence and scholarship among the faculty, to facilitate the use of technology as a learning tool, and to foster effective communication among and between administration and faculty. The VPAA supervises an associate vice president, two academic deans, three directors, the dean of student academic support, the registrar, and two administrative staff. 

 

Founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in 1890, the University of Saint Francis is rooted in the Catholic and Franciscan traditions of Faith and Reason. The University engages a diverse community in learning, leadership, and service. Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a satellite site in Crown Point, the University boasts an enrollment of over 1900 students and offers 76 majors in the arts, humanities, education, natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences, and business. In close collaboration with the other members of the President’s Cabinet, the VPAA will help articulate and implement the strategic plan of the university, will provide regular reports to the Board of Trustees and its committees, and serve as administrative liaison to the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board. 

 

The successful candidate will: be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church and dedicated to the ministry of Catholic education; have a doctorate degree from an accredited institution with at least seven years of experience in a university setting; have progressive leadership responsibility in academic affairs and the rank of associate or full professor; demonstrate honesty and loyalty to the University; and support its mission and religious affiliation.
