Post Doctoral Fellow (E) (PRN32961B)

The Department of Film & Media Arts seeks to hire a Raymond C. Morales Postgraduate Fellow in the area of documentary filmmaking. This is a full-time, three-year appointment with a 3-3 teaching load. The successful candidate will have an emerging record of ongoing creative work in documentary media production, evidence of which may include produced credits and festival screenings. Ideally, this work will not be limited to cinema, and will reflect the range of possibilities attendant to the proliferation of screens and platforms that characterizes 21st century documentary practice. The candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of both the theory and practice of documentary, and be prepared to teach courses in documentary production and studies at intermediate and advanced levels within the context of a comprehensive film and media arts production program. Potential courses include Introduction to Documentary Studies, Documentary Film History, Social Justice Documentary, and Advanced Documentary Production. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to develop and teach a new special topics course as well as to mentor graduate students.

The Raymond C. Morales Postgraduate Fellowship is designed to promote diversity within the University of Utah’s College of Fine Arts by encouraging graduates from underrepresented groups who have completed a terminal degree to pursue careers in university teaching. The Morales Fellowship is dedicated to funding, supporting, and facilitating the success of candidates who specialize in diverse areas of the arts, and who will bring those underrepresented perspectives to the College.
