Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Events and Facilities will oversee all intramural activities, which includes: weekly games and game management; supervising Intramural Operations Assistants; and documenting scores and conduct actions that require supervisor attention. The GA will assist with events sponsored by the Department of Recreation Services and assist with facility supervision in the absence of full-time staff.
Essential Duties
- Assist with scheduling intramural games and necessary operational staff
- Inventory intramural equipment and provide it for each scheduled event
- Help with equipment purchases by informing staff when items are damaged or unavailable.
- Understand the policies and procedures listed in the policy guide for all facilities managed by Recreational Services
- Enforce all policies and procedures both during intramural activities and within the recreational facilities
- Diffuse disciplinary actions/situations which include individuals disrupting games, foul language, illegal use of facilities and refusal to cooperate in maintaining a safe and fun environment when necessary
- Document and refer disciplinary actions/situations to the Programming Coordinator
- Assist with event operations for events sponsored by the Department of Recreation Services
- Oversee student employees in the absence of the full-time staff
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Recreation Services
- Bachelor’s degree
- Must be accepted and enrolled into the Missouri Western State University graduate program
- Two years of experience within campus recreation or intramural programming
- Experience with event management preferred
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Leadership and supervisory experience
- Must be able to assert authority to peers, faculty, staff and community members
- Must be able to communicate ideas to others
- Must be willing to learn all rules, regulations, policies and procedures concerned with the Recreation Services Department
- Must have CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications (can certify as needed)
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
