Job Description
Join an established team of professionals with University of Missouri Campus Career Services in a newly created role to cultivate and strengthen corporate relations. Work with current and prospective employer partners to maximize the hiring of university students and graduates.
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
The Employer Relations Coordinator will build relationships with existing and future employer partners and is committed to offering superior service to ensure positive and successful recruiting and hiring outcomes at Mizzou. This position will collaborate with campus offices that have corporate relationships, such as University Advancement, to be responsive to employers’ strategic workforce needs.
The Mizzou campus has a coordinated system of career services with multiple career offices. This person will work closely with campus career services professionals to respond to employers’ recruitment needs. Additionally, the Employer Relations Coordinator will seek out new employer partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Employer Development & Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new recruiters, making referrals to other career services offices and personnel as appropriate.
- Create a streamlined “point of entry” for employers focused on strategic outreach, digital campaigns and networking efforts to promote innovative Mizzou programs, success metrics and student talent.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with new employers that have not previously engaged with the University, with a particular attention to recruitment of underserved student populations.
- Assist employers with using Handshake online recruiting system.
- Create employer-facing materials promoting Mizzou.
- Collaborate with MU Career Services Council and key campus stakeholders to establish new employer partnerships, strengthen employer relationships and increase student engagement with recruiters.
- Communicate with employers, Chambers of Commerce and state and regional associations to cultivate professional development and employment opportunities for students.
- Engage faculty and staff across campus to foster support and provide input for their respective students.
- Solicit employer feedback and ideas for enhanced campus partnerships.
- Create and evaluate employer outreach goals informed by data sources, including First Destination Survey, industry rankings, and in consultation with the Career Leadership Council.
- Participate in professional development activities and remain current on issues affecting the labor market.
- Participate in campus-wide committees and/or advisory councils; represent the University of Missouri at numerous on and off campus events.
- Manage budget(s) to ensure compliance with university and other requirements.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Supervision received from the Director of the MU Career Center.
Salary
Salary Range: $50,000 - $75,000
GGS Grade: 010
University Title: Senior Student Service Coordinator

Shift
M-F 8 am – 5 pm, some weekend and evening work; some travel will be required
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer Master’s degree in student personnel, business administration, human resources, counseling, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is necessary.
Three years' experience in higher education, recruitment, human resources, or related area, including but not limited to, counseling, job placement, corporate relations, supervision, and project development.
Strong team player with ability to collaborate with, support, and manage expectations of diverse communities of students, recruiters, and employers.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to successfully manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and strong customer service focus for internal and external constituencies.
- Experience planning and executing events.
- Ability to work independently, understand and manage workload according to the academic/ recruiting cycle, and proactively find solutions to create efficiencies.
- Experience delivering informed insights based on collected data, as well as comfort using data and assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of recruiting activities.
- Ability to represent Mizzou and the liberal arts in a positive light to outside community. Enthusiasm for working with liberal arts students and graduates and ability to successfully articulate the value of a liberal arts education a must.
