We offer our K-6 licensure program at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Social Justice is a core principle embedded in education courses. Addressing the achievement gap and inequities in K-12 schools is essential to the mission of social justice for educators. St. Kate’s teacher candidates will be challenged throughout the program to reflect upon ways they can implement culturally sustaining teaching practices and disrupt inequities in school systems and classrooms.
Every semester we may have opportunities for adjuncts to join us as weeducate women to lead and influence.

We regularly hire for adjunct positions when full-time faculty take sabbaticals, go on leave or have unexpected life events. Possible adjunct opportunities may include:

  • Supervising student teaching fieldwork
  • Instructing foundational or methods courses like the following which are needed for Spring 2023:
    • EDUC3110 Methods and Materials in Music for Elementary Teachers

Responsibilities:

  • Teach one class on a semester basis in online environments.
  • Educate and support students in their classroom and field experiences.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities.
  • Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator, an advisor, and a mentor.
  • Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
  • Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance.
  • Comply with allPELSBaccreditation standards
  • Consistent with the university’s Catholic identity, its commitment to women, diversity, inclusion, social justice, and dedication to a liberal arts-based curriculum, faculty are expected to manifest these themes in their teaching and practice experiences.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Three years of experience as a teacher of record in elementary music
  • One year of teaching experience aligned to the scope and content area of any assigned class
  • Experience delivering instruction in traditional and online environments
And either:
  • 18 graduate credits in the scope and content area of any assigned class
Or:
  • Completion of a state-approved teacher prep program aligned to the scope and content methods of the assigned class.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of experience as teacher of record
  • Current or past professional license that align(s) with available courses
  • One year of experience teaching in a college or university setting
  • Critical, self-reflective pedagogy, and anti-oppressive practice experience
  • Experience teaching and mentoring diverse populations
