Job Summary
Provides a model academic laboratory facility for Tarrant County College students in the Child Development and Education programs. Provides a model classroom environment and is responsible for the developmental well-being of children assigned to the Children’s Center. Maintains professionalism and discretion at all times.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Supports college students learning and success by supervising students as they observe and implement the application of early childhood principles, methods, materials, and appropriate guidance techniques for teaching young children in a developmentally appropriate framework which utilizes active learning in a lab setting. Evaluates and grades college student’s assignments and lesson plans
- Communicate and collaborate with Child Development faculty on ways to improve the lab experiences of college students
- Teaches basic concepts of mathematics, science, technology, social relationships and initiative, movement, music, language arts and fine arts in an active learning setting which stimulates children’s interest of their physical and social environment; including children who have been identified as having special needs
- Maintains an on-going classroom portfolio based on national Association for the Education of Young Children’s accreditation standards
- Provides positive guidance techniques for successful behavior
- Communicates with families through written messages, conferences, phone calls and review of records. Meets with child’s guardians throughout the year to share child’s progress
- Maintains records of children’s developmental progress. Provides detail to parents in formal/informal visits
- Supervises lab students and high school students in the classroom through evaluation and usage of lesson plans and upgrading of skills and knowledge of child development
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC ) as well as all professional development requirements of TDPRS, CCMS, and NAEYC
- Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or 60 college hours in in Child Development or Early Childhood Education OR a CDA certification
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Food Handlers Certification
- Experience with computerized systems
- Ability to work directly with children and college students
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
