The Assistant Director of Admission, based in Washington, D.C., will represent Syracuse University in the greater Washington, DC markets which includes the District of Columbia, parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Responsibilities include identifying, recruiting and enrolling qualified prospective students from diverse backgrounds; developing relationships with prospective students, parents and the counseling community; and evaluating credentials for admission.
The Assistant Director will also play an integral role in planning and implementation of the strategic plan and enhance the University’s presence and visibility among the various constituent groups in the region. This position will be based in Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and support all regional initiatives. Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required.
3 plus years of experience in higher education is preferred.
Strong interpersonal, presentational and written communications skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license.
Candidate must live in the region and have the ability to use public transportation. Job Specific Qualifications

  • To identify, recruit and enroll qualified prospective students from diverse backgrounds by providing students, parents and counselors with comprehensive and accurate information about Syracuse University.
  • Planning and executing daily visitation activities including high school visits, attending college fairs and college nights, serving on college admissions panels and conducting personal interviews.
  • Outreach and follow-up with prospects, inquiries, applicants and admits.
  • Conducting information sessions and creating theme-based specialized programing.
  • Building relationships with all constituents with prompt and informative follow-up to all inquiries.
  • Enhancing the University’s presence, service, and visibility among the various populations;
