PRESIDENT

LOURDES UNIVERSITY

Sylvania, Ohio

Lourdes University invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of President. As an inspiring and forward-thinking leader, the President is responsible for providing strategic and entrepreneurial leadership to ensure continuation of the University’s success in its academic, student life, and athletic programs. The next President will lead the institution in fulfilling its strategic plan and continuing to broaden the University’s national and global footprint. The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the University and is accountable to the Board of Trustees; the Members of the sponsoring congregation hold reserved powers over the University.

A private, comprehensive, co-educational University sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio and rooted in its Catholic and Franciscan traditions, Lourdes’ strikingly beautiful northwest Ohio campus enrolls nearly 970 undergraduate and more than 250 graduate students. Today, through its Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Leadership, Education and Human Services, Nursing and the Graduate School, Lourdes offers bachelor and master degree programs and doctoral degrees in nursing practice including a highly-respected nurse anesthesia doctoral program. Its curricula flow from a strong liberal arts and professional studies core and reflects a deep commitment to service. The University is ideally situated minutes away from Toledo and a short drive from the urban centers of Ann Arbor, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, and Columbus.

Lourdes’ next President will embrace the University’s values as a community of learning, reverence, and service and will inspire others to live out its Catholic and Franciscan identity. Experience with successful short- and long-range planning, enrollment management, resource generation and management, and partnership building will be important, as will leadership and relational skills that instill confidence, inspire trust and draw on the potential of all Lourdes constituencies. The University is seeking an individual who has a strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values that are represented at Lourdes. The ideal candidate must have the credentials, character traits, and experience appropriate for a 21st-century university president; an appropriate terminal degree or equivalent; a record of proven leadership and vision in a senior administrative role; significant experience in financial management of a complex operation; demonstrated success in a fundraising role; experience in strategic planning; and an understanding of the technological needs/emerging trends in higher education.  The President fosters collaborative community building and shared governance, embraces the tradition and charism of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, and possesses a deep commitment to a community of diversity, equity, social justice, and inclusion.  The President must be an advocate for liberal arts and professional program education and demonstrate a significant disposition toward fairness and transparency in governance and compliance.

Lourdes University is being assisted in the search by the partners of Hyatt-Fennell, Executive Search. Please visit www.Hyatt-Fennell.com for an expanded profile of the position. Submit nominations and application materials via email to: Lourdes@hyatt-fennell.com.
