Job Summary
The Program Specialist I, under general supervision, performs entry-level specialist duties for a department, college, or division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating,
and monitoring programs and services.
- Plans and develops specialized programs such as conferences,
seminars, lectures, meetings, and workshops to facilitate program
goals.
- Coordinates specialized program communications and marketing
materials.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Assists
in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, special reports, and
other documents.
- Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of
assigned programs.

Additional Responsibilities
- Coordinate the peer mentoring program for University College,
including hiring, training, scheduling, reporting, and evaluating
of peer mentors.
- Work closely with faculty in ensuring peer mentors are properly
embedded into the UNIV course objectives and student learning
outcomes.
- Analyze data and compile reports for the peer mentoring
program
- Plan, organize and assist faculty in all aspects of the peer
mentoring program.
- Assist with the ACE team for the ACE Transition Program, ACE
Priority Program and ACE Recovery efforts.
Minimum Requirements
- Education - Bachelor's degree in applicable field
- Experience - 3 years related experience preferably in a higher
education setting
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be
considered..
Preferred Education and Experience
- Knowledge of freshmen recovery efforts

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to:
- Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service
skills.
- Maintain attention to detail and utilizes sound
judgment.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
- Able to apply software in updating the MAP Workbook for UNIV
courses.
