The University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) is the largest comprehensive, fully accredited university in the Kansas City area. As one of four universities of the University of Missouri system, it offers traditional and interdisciplinary programs and is designated as a high research activity university by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Our Health Sciences campus includes the School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Pharmacy and School of Nursing and Health Studies. Few urban universities have the depth and breadth of disciplines (ranging from medicine, engineering, law, social work, to the performing arts) offered at UMKC.
Our university is committed to becoming a model urban university that is recognized for partnership with diverse communities to effectively foster a healthy, safe, more economically secure quality of life.
A City on the Rise: Big City Life and Midwestern Charm, Kansas City offers the best of both worlds —a vibrant, urban community with Midwestern appeal. The University is located in a Kansas City metropolitan area that is among the most entrepreneurial cities in America with a population of more than 2.4 million. Our UMKC campuses are centered in the hubs of business activity, cultural arts, (some great barbeque and ethnic cuisine!) and health science research engagement for both the Volker and Health Sciences campuses.
