The Department of Education Leadership and Inclusive Teaching is housed within the Woodring College of Education.  The combined special education programs, located at the main campus in Bellingham and at surrounding sites, graduates approximately 100 students each year as the only Council for Exceptional Children accredited program in Washington, the special education program has a long-standing reputation for excellence in preparing special education teachers who deliver evidence-based instruction and interventions and serve as strong advocates for their students, people with disabilities and their families, and educational justice. The department is searching for a colleague committed to high-quality teacher preparation and evidence-based instructional methods who seeks a balance between teaching, research, and service. Preferred candidates will bring expertise in explicit and systematic reading instruction, multiple intervention strategies based upon scientific research, multilingual education, and/or methods and tactics to support students with high-incidence disabilities. Our program centers on the principles of inclusion and equity, as well as teacher preparation using sound pedagogical approaches, and we seek an individual who will embrace these mindsets and help us build toward a more just future for our students and the local, state, and national communities that we serve.

We invite applications from innovative scholars and educators with expertise in special education and related services and a commitment to advancing equity and social justice in their teaching, scholarship, and service. This is a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Education Leadership and Inclusive Teaching beginning in Fall 2023.
