Job Summary
Provide overall leadership of the Information Management Services ( IMS ) for the program area. The Information management Specialist will provide technical help to Extension staffs on campus, Off-campus Centers-Mound Bayou, Marks and Preston including agents and specialist located throughout 15 southwest counties and beyond. I
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The individual should have excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and extensive technical knowledge of the field; perform audits and tests on computer systems, networks and hardware to ensure it is functioning properly and respond to support requests and assist in troubleshooting any problems that arise. The individual must also know how to efficiently optimize systems while improving network security, as well as have strong communication skills to provide timely support when needed. Individual will also work with a program staff in different counties including off-campus demonstration centers to help fix their computer problems, but they will also work with other IT Help Desk Technicians to provide the best support possible.
Essential Job Functions
Coordinate the equipment inventory for the program and provide an updated report to the Associate Director for Extension’s office as required.
Manage hardware and software procurement and license management.
Develop a yearly Information Management Services’ budget.
Ensure continuing staff development, provide technology training, and ensure proper operation and maintenance of hardware.
Provide structured information storage services so that the unit can manage, storage, and backups for their extension and research projects.
Supervise the Information Management System unit staff and students.
Coordinate with all department heads, faculty and staff including Research and Extension. · Serve as project manager for the unit.
Plan and implement additions, deletions, and major modifications to the supporting infrastructure Responsible for strategic planning, implementation, service delivery, and support of Information Management Infrastructure Services for the program by ensuring Data Management reliability and availability.
