- Knowledgeable in managing the development of all office procedures, handbooks and brochures
- Ability to maintain the student resume database and schedule on-campus interviews
- Ability to organize career fairs, company visits, informational sessions and career oriented workshops
- Ability to serve as Campus Liaison for the National Urban League’s Black Executive Exchange Program
- Ability to aggressively market the university to external agencies and public industries
- Ability to make effective presentations
- Ability to counsel/teach students the skills needed for a successful job search
- Ability to interact with a variety of constituencies
- Ability to create effective marketing materials and collateral pieces

- Establish standard operating procedures and make necessary modifications based on analysis of operations, demographics, and other research information
- Plan, administer, and control budgets, maintain financial records, and produce financial reports
- Recruit, hire, train, and terminate departmental personnel
- Advise students on issues such as course selection, progress toward graduation, and career decisions
- Formulate strategic plans for the institution
- Perform career development and job search counseling for students and alumni
- Develop and maintain career services databases
- Develop and revise Career Services publications and policies
- Strategic and budgetary planning development. Oversee involvement in off-campus job fairs
- Prepare statistical and other reports for internal and external constituencies
- Protect the confidentiality of information with areas of position responsibilities by preventing unauthorized release, both verbally and/or written
- Create vision and provide leadership for program development and implementation; supervise professional and support direct reports; support staff to develop necessary skills
- Create and promote student, faculty, and administration interaction in the formative process for students with respect to career development
- Oversee the technology needs and development of Career Services
- Create, enhance, and increase placement activities for students and alumni
- Assist with special projects, committees, and other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs
- Travel and after 5 work hours
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
- Progressive responsibility with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity;
- The director should have excellent interpersonal, administrative and supervisory skills, as well as strong skills in written and oral expression.
- Prior experience in Career Services field preferred
- The position also requires computer literacy, an understanding and appreciation of career services database software and online resources, and the willingness to respond to the needs of students and employers in an increasingly technologically oriented society.
