Description of Work
The primary purpose of the position is to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Mathematics. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include mentoring, advising and recruiting students and engaging in department/university service. Tenure-track faculty responsibilities also include relevant research, publishing, or scholarly activities.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related area with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in Mathematics. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited university.
Possess effective communication skills.
Demonstrate a commitment to collegiality and diverse work environments when interacting with others within the university community.
Possess a commitment to excellence in student learning and be able to promote students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural global community.
Possess good teaching skills and the ability to use technology in teaching and learning; be knowledgeable of gathering and utilizing electronic data for student growth and program improvement.
Possess ability to write grants and/or conduct and publish research (tenure-track only).
Minimum Training and Experience
A Doctorate degree is required for the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. May hire at the rank of Lecturer with a master’s degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in relevant field. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited university.
