Located within the School of Visual and Performing Arts, the Division of Music offers the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, and the Master of Arts degrees. We are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the North Central Association, and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. We share a long and storied history of providing strong music foundations to our graduates. Additionally, the administration encourages and supports faculty in their innovative thinking and collaboration to produce future-focused musicians who will serve and lead the profession upon graduation. The University of Central Missouri’s Division of Music enjoys ample teaching and rehearsal space and includes a 385-seat recital hall and a 1300-seat concert hall on the Warrensburg campus. Recently-approved renovations to our facilities include a significant upgrade to the music technology studios allowing for state-of-the-art recording capabilities and collaborative projects across the School of Visual and Performing Arts and the university at large. UCM’s 1,561-acre campus is located in Warrensburg, MO, a community of approximately 20,000 residents 50 miles southeast of Kansas City. Nearly 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled in more than 150 programs of study. Student life is varied and vibrant with 200 student organizations, strong intramural and club sports, championship NCAA Division II athletics, 22 Greek organizations, and ample residence halls. The arts are particularly strong, with the School of Visual and Performing Arts bringing together the Divisions of Theatre & Dance, Art & Design, and Music. Position Purpose
Conduct premiere large choral ensemble, Concert Choir, and vocal chamber ensembles when appropriate; develop outreach and recruiting activities that will expand the choral program; teach graduate and undergraduate courses in choral conducting and music education; administer choral program, and assist in supervision of student teachers. Other duties may be assigned to meet departmental needs according to the candidate’s areas of strength.

Experience
Demonstrated achievement at a high level of artistry as a choral conductor, evidence of successful teaching of choral music, and strong administrative skills required.
Vocal performance ability, keyboard skills, and applied teaching experience are desirable.
Preference given to candidates with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in K-12 music
